SUMMARY:John in Boca Raton!
DESCRIPTION:WE’RE COMING BACKBOCA RATON !DATES Oct. 5th & 6th(virtual course on Sunday\, Sept. 29th)John brings all new classes to Boca!REGISTER HERE! LOCATIONBroadway Bound Academy23102 Sandalfoot Plaza DriveBoca Raton\, FL 33428\n\n\n\nLIGHTS\, CAMERA\, ACTION!!! Those three words spark excitement in every young actor’s hearts. But\, without the proper training in front of the camera\, most actors melt when the lights turn on.It’s challenging to deliver a compelling performance while trying to remember lines as your character eats lunch at a busy café. Will the actor remember to eat their chicken with the fork in their left hand\, while drinking their lemonade with their right? Will they remember to do so on exactly the right line of dialogue at\, exactly the same time\, from take to take? Will they know exactly how many steps they must walk to arrive at their “mark” without looking down at the ground? Remember\, if you miss your “mark” you might be out of focus or block your fellow castmate from the camera. So\, how do you captivate your audience with a brilliant performance while seamlessly arriving on your mark without looking down? These virtual and in-person (practical) courses will teach actors how to use an “activity” to help ground their character\, demonstrate how to match their actions in continuity exercises while eating a meal and performing in an ensemble scene. It will also show the actors how to perform their scene during a physical “walk-and-talk” exercise without blocking your fellow actor from the camera or looking down at the ground to locate your mark. \n\n\n\n \n\n\n\n \n\n\n\nSCHEDULE    \n\n\n\nSUNDAY\, SEPTEMBER 29TH  \n\n\n\nACTING FOR THE CAMERA while doing OTHER THINGSYOUTH| Ages 9-13 | 9:00-12:00 PM (PST)TEEN/ADULT| Ages 14+ | 12:30-3:30 PM (PST) *Students are required to attend this Prep Class if taking either the Continuity or Hitting Your Mark Class. In the event they are not able to attend\, you will be sent a recording of this course. In this initial Virtual Class\, John will revisit his essential Magic Rectangle Class\, then introduce students to 1) hitting their mark\, 2) walking and talking during scenes\, 3) finding ways to ground a performance while performing an activity\, and 4) the importance of continuity. He will also rehearse everyone’s scenes for that following Saturday and Sunday.  \n\n\n\nSATURDAY\, OCTOBER 5TH \n\n\n\nTHE SINGLE CAM COMEDY CLASSYOUTH| Ages 8-12 | 9 AM-10:30 AM \n\n\n\nDe-mystify acting for the camera with John’s simple math for delivering dynamic and indelible on-camera performances. John’s simple camera math technique will immediately improve student’s taped auditions. Work with scripts from single-camera comedies such as Modern Family and get ready to have fun! In addition\, John will cover “Mockumentary” style and how comedies implement this technique to connect with the audience and express their unique POV. \n\n\n\nCONTINUITY: THE ART OF MATCHINGYOUTH| Ages 9-13 | 11:00 AM-2:00 PMTEEN/ADULT| Ages 14+ | 2:30-5:30 PM *Students are required to attend the Virtual Prep Class. If they are unable to attend\, they will be sent the recording to watch and will be responsible for the information. \n\n\n\nImagine\, you’re watching a fantastic scene between two characters. One character drinks out of a mug and in the next shot\, the mug is gone. You could be giving a tremendous performance\, but if the continuity is off\, the audience won’t be focusing on it.In this class\, students will perform an ensemble scene involving eating and drinking. They must then match what they did previously in a second take. Students that aren’t performing will be tasked as Script Supervisorwhere they will track one of the actor’s blocking\, aiding them in making sure they replicate their movements in the initial take. \n\n\n\n \n\n\n\nSUNDAY\, OCTOBER 6TH   \n\n\n\nHITTING YOUR MARK DURING A ‘WALK AND TALK’YOUTH| Ages 9-13 | 9:00-12:00 PM TEEN/ADULT| Ages 14+ | 12:30-3:30 PM *Students are required to attend the Virtual Prep Class. If they are unable to attend\, they will be sent the recording to watch and will be responsible for the information.  \n\n\n\nWhen it comes to blocking in front of the camera\, actors are tasked with hitting their marks\, delivering their lines\, and using any props consistently while staying in character and delivering an authentic performance. Wow! In this two-part class\, students will work on ensemble scenes that utilize specific blocking all while delivering a performance in front of the camera. \n\n\n\nTHE SINGLE CAM COMEDY CLASSTEEN/ADULT| Ages 14+ | 4:00-5:30 PM \n\n\n\nDe-mystify acting for the camera with John’s simple math for delivering dynamic and indelible on-camera performances. SUMMARY:Objectives Workshop & Industry Showcase
DESCRIPTION:OBJECTIVES WORKSHOP & INDUSTRY SHOWCASE (Character Expectations\, Objectives & Conflict)\n\n\n\nSave your spot for this two weekend intensive ending in a scene partner SHOWCASE!Dates: Oct. 26th\, Nov. 2nd & 3rdTime: 10am – 2pm PSTAges: 9 – early 20’sAll sessions are online via Zoom.\n\n\n\nREGISTER HERE\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nEvery character\, just like every person\, has an “expectation” of how their day will go based on patterns established over time. What they want to achieve in any given moment is called their “objective.” This objective might be to convince a teacher for a better grade\, or to ask someone out on a date\, or possibly convince mom and dad to let you go to a sleepover or a concert.A good scene must have an objective\, but it must also have conflict – something that gets in between the character’s objective and the reality they are confronting. This is what the audience pays to see: the moments where all the elements culminate in either comedic chaos or a dramatic explosion in a highly charged environment. When an unforeseen conflict occurs\, the character must navigate either around\, over or through whatever is keeping them from achieving their objective. When a detour appears\, how will your character adjust? Do you give up\, fight or work to find a possible solution? Learn how to raise the stakes by committing to the  expectations\, objectives and conflicts that your character is facing. Learn how by making specific choices\, your performance will soar! In between\, the first and second weekend\, students and their partners will meet with John for additional scene rehearsal. On the final day\, students will perform scenes (partner style) in front of industry guests and receive invaluable feedback!\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nPrice: $675\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nREGISTER HERE
