Students learn how to build three step climbs\, how to escalate the stakes and how to set-up\, reinforce and deliver the 180 reversals. Plus\, learn how substituting simple punctuations can change everything in comedies. Get ready to have your funny bone tickled while learning the essential components of great comedic performances.HOW TO MAKE FUNNY (ADVANCED)YOUTH| Ages 8-12 | 11:30 AM-1:30 PMTEEN/ADULT| Ages 13+ | 4:30-6:30 PM*Regardless of your level\, you must have previously taken the Beginner Course (either earlier in the day or during a prior session with John) in order to take this Advanced ClassJohn combines all the How to Make Funny fundamentals (punctuating the joke\, three step climbs\, escalating the stakes and 180 reversals) and challenges actors to execute them in a single scene. Using scenes from popular comedies\, actors are challenged to “find the funny”\, while building a comedic dynamic throughout. If you can master this class\, you’re that much closer to being able to deliver the “funny” on camera! FREE MIXERALL AGES| Ages 8+| 6:30-7:30 PMJoin John after Saturday’s Classes for appetizers and beverages to kick off not only an exciting weekend of classes\, but to also learn about the upcoming 2024/2025 Season collaboration with Broadway Bound! SUNDAY\, APRIL 7TH MAGIC RECTANGLE (BEGINNER)YOUTH| Ages 8-12 | 8:30 AM-10:00 AMTEEN/ADULT| Ages 13+ | 3:00-4:30 PMThis class helped launch so many careers. Take all the confusion out of auditions and learn how to perform for the camera. The Magic Rectangle is John’s technique for delivering dynamic and indelible on-camera performances. John’s simple math will immediately improve student’s taped auditions by imposing structure on the imaginary fourth wall canvas that exists around the camera. John’s first signature class is a great place to start if you have not previously trained with John. He’s taught it to thousands of actors across the country and in Hollywood. Get ready for your taped auditions to dramatically improve! MAGIC RECTANGLE (ADVANCED)YOUTH| Ages 8-12 | 10:00 AM-12:00 PMTEEN/ADULT| Ages 13+ | 4:30-6:30 PM*Regardless of your level\, you must have previously taken the Beginner Course (either earlier in the day or during a prior session with John) in order to take this Advanced ClassActors learn to apply John’s Magic Rectangle Technique in a scene that they will perform with several off-camera partners while learning to direct that performance into the “money” zone that exists around the camera. John’s camera games/exercises teach students the meaning of “eye-lines” and to which off-camera character they must focus their primary dramatic emphasis. This class will change how you audition as well as help you deliver captivating performances for TV and film. ACTING IN THE FANTASY GENRETEEN/ADULT | Ages 12+ | 12:30-2:30 PMMythical beasts\, magic\, swords and sorcery captivate audiences seeking a departure from the real world. Often\, actors think this means to “overact” or “ham it up”. This is NOT the case! Learn how to build believable characters in the genre\, identify specific characteristics of notable character tropes\, and how to bring your authentic self to it! \n\n\n\nSTRANGER KIDS: STRANGER THINGS\, GOOSEBUMPS\, ARE YOU AFRAID OF THE DARKALL AGES| Ages 9+ | 11:00 AM-1:00 PM  \n\n\n\nWho stole the school mascot? Are there really ghosts in the Amityville Hotel? Where did the dead bank robbers bury all the gold? TV mysteries come in all kinds\, shapes and sizes and many of them for kids!  This class focuses on preparing young actors for auditioning for television and film mysteries. Students will learn the archetypal characters in every cast\, what is their function and how do they serve the story? We will role play scenes with actors switching roles mid-scene. Acting Interrogation is John’s signature technique that infuses true human reaction into scripted lines. Actors typically experience a disconnect between how they would organically respond versus how they respond to a line of dialogue that they were anticipating. This technique can be taught to young actors as well as adults. It applies the instinctive human traits that you use everyday to determine everything from whether you’re hungry to whether or not you are in danger. The great thing is\, you’re already doing it! You’re just not applying it to your scripted work. John guarantees that if you practice this technique\, your craft will rise to the next level and beyond. If you’re ready to up your game\, don’t miss this class \n\n\n\n ACTIVE INTERROGATION (ADVANCED)TEEN/ADULT | Ages 12+ | 12:00-2:00 PM. *Beginner Course Prerequisite to take Advanced Class \n\n\n\nIt’s time to put the technique into practice! Actors will be given material prior to the class for them to perform initially. Once all scene partners complete the first read\, actors will apply the Active Interrogation Technique to their individual scenes\, then perform them incorporating the interrogations in front of the class. John will review the interrogations of each student throughout the class. \n\n\n\nACTING IN THE FANTASY ADVENTURE GENRETEEN/ADULT | Ages 12+| 2:30-4:30 PM \n\n\n\nMythical beasts\, magic\, swords and sorcery captivate audiences seeking a departure from the real world. Despite having similar comedic rhythms and setups\, each sub-genre has their own nuances and filming styles. In this masterclass\, we will review each genre\, showing scenes from popular comedies within the genre (Eighth Grade to Seinfeld and Modern Family to Grand Budapest Hotel and Abbott Elementary). We will then dig deep within those scenes\, specifically emphasizing the genre differences so that students can learn to identify and modify their performances. Having appeared in many of these styles throughout his career\, John will share his on-set experience and wealth of comedic knowledge and insight as to best prepare YOU for your next comedic audition! ACTIVE INTERROGATIONTEEN/ADULT | Ages 14+ | 12:30-2:30 PMSimply put\, this course will make you a better actor and take it to the next level. If you’re ready to up your game\, don’t miss this class. PERFORMING IN STYLIZED TV DRAMASTEEN/ADULT | Ages 14+ | 3:00-5:30 PMIn a world over-saturated with content\, some shows standout from the rest. They captivate us with the world they build\, and have a specific stylethat informs the world in which the characters exist. In this class\, we’ll dive into scenes from shows that have a very specific tone and world. Shows like WEDNESDAY\, THE LAST OF US\, EUPHORIA\, SUCCESSION\, THE BEAR\, and more. Actors will examine the elements that determine the style and why they stand out.PRICING$150: Single Class$350: Three Classes$450: Four Classes If purchasing any of the class packages\, please visit HERE. Take all the confusion out of your auditions and learn how to perform for the camera. The Magic Rectangle is John’s camera technique for delivering dynamic and indelible on-camera performances. John’s simple camera math will immediately improve student’s taped auditions by imposing structure on the imaginary canvas of the fourth wall that exists around the camera. This is a great place to start if you have not previously trained with John and was his first signature class. He’s taught it to thousands of actors across the country as well as in Hollywood. Get ready for your taped auditions to dramatically improve! \n\n\n\nSATURDAY\, JUNE 24TH\n\n\n\nACTIVE INTERROGATION\n\n\n\nTEEN Class| Ages 12-18 | 11:00 AM-1:00 PMADULT Class | Ages 18+ | 4:00-6:00 PM\n\n\n\nSimply put\, this course will make you a better actor and take it to the next level. If you’re ready to up your game\, don’t miss this class.  \n\n\n\nVIXENS\, VILLAINS\, & VOLDEMORTS: BECOMING THE VILLIANADULT Class| Ages 18+ | 1:30-3:30 PM\n\n\n\nOften\, the Hero isn’t the most interesting character. Tap into your ability to be evil\, cunning and despicable and have a blast doing it! \n\n\n\nTHE ACTOR’S ENVIRONMENT\n\n\n\nADULT Class | Ages 18+ | 6:00-8:00 PM\n\n\n\nEXT. GRAVEYARD – NIGHT. The cold breeze cuts to the bone. The spirits are restless and this will be a night like none other. For this is the night of the Reckoning.” – Are you interested\, yet? Scared? Can you feel the cold wind? Do you see the strange clouds cutting across the moon? Are you shivering from the cold\, the fear or both? Well… what if that’s the environment of the audition you are about to tape? Are you allowing the environment to affect your character? What if we change the location to Key West in August. How does the oppressive heat and humidity affect the mood of your character as you await the next big storm? Can you feel the weight of what lies ahead and does it fill you with trepidation? Well\, it’s our job to feel… everything! It’s what we get paid to do. Most actors don’t even allow the environment to affect their character\, their behavior and their choices. Most actors\, of course\, don’t work. Working actors know that the key element that the great writers impose the environment upon the characters. How will you incorporate that into your character for the scene? Whether it’s an interior or exterior\, busy city or desert landscape\, the environment informs the actor. Learn how to become the character living truthfully in their environment and bring your auditions to life! \n\n\n\nPRICING\n\n\n\n\nEach Individual Class: $150\n\n\n\nTEEN Two Class Combo Pack: $250\n\n\n\nADULT Two Class Pack: $250\n\n\n\nADULT Four Class Pack: $450\n\n\n\n\nIf purchasing any of the discounted class packages\, please visit HERE. There’s not much value in a discovery that is not appreciated by an audience. This course will apply John’s Magic Rectangle technique to each scene\, exploring the physical and emotional values available on the 4th Wall. John will then introduce his concept of the 5th Wall to enhance the experience. \n\n\n\nDynamic Disney + Nick | Ages 10-16 | 12:00 PM-2:30 PM\n\n\n\nDisney and Nickelodeon require a special energy that is not only dynamic and lively\, but is grounded in the show’s reality. Often\, actors think this means to “overact” or “ham it up”. This is NOT the case! Learn how to build believable characters in the genre\, identify specific characteristics of notable character tropes\, and how to bring your authentic self to it! \n\n\n\nActive Interrogation | Ages 10-16 | 3:00 PM-5:30 PM\n\n\n\nActing Interrogation is a technique\, developed by John D’Aquino\, that infuses true human reaction into scripted lines. SUMMARY:Test-Emily
DESCRIPTION: JDAW is updating our website!!\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nWe are excited to announce that we will be introducing an entirely new commerce and scheduling interface by integrating Acuity Scheduling into our website\, eliminating the need for a separate site (the old and clunky secure.johndaquino.net).  Our updated site will allow you to make purchases and schedule classes\, workshops and private sessions directly within our main site or by using the Acuity Scheduling App for Iphone and Android! \nWe will be launching the updated site at the beginning of 2023. Though the information and navigation on the johndaquino.net site will look the same\, how you purchase classes\, private coaching\, and events will change. All transactions will occur directly within our main site through built in links\, or\, preferably\, on the Acuity Scheduling app available for Apple and Android phones and tablets. The app will be the easiest and best way to purchase and schedule everything\, and it will give you access to all of your account info\, payment methods\, class and private session history\, etc.  \nTo Add the Acuity Scheduling App to your Phone\nIf you are viewing this on your computer\, please scan the code below from your phone to add the Acuity app and johndaquino.net as your provider. If viewing this email on your phone\, click on the image below to add the app and have johndaquino.net added as your provider. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nPurchasing & Scheduling Classes\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nMenu Items\nAs shown above\, all menu pull downs now give you direct access to scheduling and purchasing appointments. \nReservations\nYou will need to reserve any class you wish to attend in advance. Zoom links will change every week\, so the only way to attend the class and get the link will be by reserving the class on our website.  \nIndividual Class Credit Purchase\nIf you want to attend a single class on a specific date and time\, you will do so by reserving your space in the class and paying at the time of your reservation by going to the Book Class link on our front page. Acuity will then send you the zoom link for the class directly and be available within the Acuity app as well. \nBulk Class Credit Purchase\nYou can click the Purchase Credits tab where there will be a “View Products/Packages” tab for purchasing 4-packs of credits good for one month or monthly unlimited classes plan (charged monthly to your card automatically) at a significant discount. Once the bulk purchase is on your account\, the system will allow you to schedule all the classes in advance up to the number of credits you purchased. Just go to the class you want to reserve\, pick your timezone and click on the class time you want to select the date and you’re good to go. The class zoom link and info will appear in your app and be emailed to you to add to your calendar. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nCurrent Yearly Subscription Students\nWe will be discontinuing the “Yearly Unlimited” and having the monthly unlimited classes plan listed above instead. This will allow you to pay for the yearly plan on a monthly basis instead of all at once and cancel whenever you want. \nIf you are currently within your Yearly subscription\, you will receive a special code giving you unlimited classes to use until the code expires on the final day of your original subscription. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nPurchasing Private Coachings\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nIndividual Private Coaching \nAs with classes\, if you only want to purchase one private session\, select Book a Coaching to see our coaches\, their availability\, and price per hour. Click on the coach you want to work with\, reserve the day/time they are available\, add your time zone and the necessary registration info\, and you’re good to go!  \nBulk Coaching Sessions\nIf you prefer to purchase discounted bulk sessions\, go to the Purchase Credits tab where there will be 4-packs of coaching credits  at a discount. These credits remain on your account and can be used when scheduling a session. All private sessions will be scheduled online via the app. \nConsults \nWhen you book a session with either John or Paige\, there will be an option to make the session into a career consultation for an additional fee.\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nClass Changes\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nNEW Teen Saturday Improv Class\nWe will be starting back up our Saturday Improv Class for ages 14-early 20’s from 11am-1pm (PST)! This class will be led by our improv teacher Michelle Gilliam.  \n*Hiatus* Singing for the Actor\nOur Monday’s Singing for the Actor’s Class will be on hiatus until further notice.  \nNeed Help?\nWe will be hosting a New Website Walkthrough on Saturday\, January 7thfrom 9-10am (PST). Join our site manager Danny Kosarin as he walks you through how to navigate and make purchases through the new site.CLICK HERE TO REGISTER
