This course will dive deep into the science of auditioning – from the entrance to the slate\, ensuring you are prepared to deliver dynamic and memorable performances. When not performing\, students help operate the cameras to better understand how the camera sees the world. By doing so\, students learn to better shape performances for the camera\, from the master\, to the over-the-shoulder to the close-up. This class includes warm-up games and celebrates all aspects of acting for the camera.

In this masterclass\, we will review each genre\, showing scenes from popular comedies within the genre (Eighth Grade to Seinfeld and Modern Family to Grand Budapest Hotel and Abbott Elementary). We will then dig deep within those scenes\, specifically emphasizing the genre differences so that students can learn to identify and modify their performances. Acting Interrogation is John’s signature technique that infuses true human reaction into scripted lines.
