Doral, FL 33172   SCHEDULE SATURDAY, OCTOBER 14TH HOW TO MAKE FUNNY (BEGINNER) YOUTH| Ages 8-13 | 10:00 AM-12:00 PM TEEN/ADULT | Ages 14+ | 3:00-5:00 PM This is John’s signature comedy course that he’s taught for Disney Channel, which creates a simple math (structure) that makes people laugh! Students learn how to build three step climbs, how to escalate the stakes and how to set-up, reinforce and deliver the 180 reversals. Plus, learn how substituting simple punctuations can change everything in comedies. Get ready to have your funny bone tickled while learning the essential components of great comedic performances. HOW TO MAKE FUNNY (ADVANCED) YOUTH| Ages 8-13 | 12:30-2:30 PM TEEN/ADULT | Ages 14+ | 5:30-7:30 PM *You must have previously taken the Beginner Course in order to take this Advanced ClassJohn combines all the How to Make Funny fundamentals (punctuating the joke, three step climbs, escalating the stakes and 180 reversals) and challenges actors to execute them in a single scene. Using scenes from popular television and film, actors are challenged to “find the funny”, while building a comedic dynamic throughout. If you can master this class, you’re that much closer to being able to deliver the “funny” on camera!  SUNDAY, OCTOBER 15TH MAGIC RECTANGLE (BEGINNER) YOUTH| Ages 8-13 | 10:00 AM-12:00 PM This class helped launch so many careers. Take all the confusion out of auditions and learn how to perform for the camera. The Magic Rectangle is John’s technique for delivering dynamic and indelible on-camera performances. John’s simple math will immediately improve student’s taped auditions by imposing structure on the imaginary fourth wall canvas that exists around the camera. His first signature class is a great place to start if you have not previously trained with him. He’s taught this class to thousands of actors across the country and in Hollywood. Get ready for your taped auditions to dramatically improve! MAGIC RECTANGLE (ADVANCED): SCENE WORK YOUTH| Ages 8-13 | 12:30-2:30 PM TEEN/ADULT | Ages 14+ | 4:30-6:30 PM *NEW TIME* *You must have previously taken the Beginner Course in order to take this Advanced ClassActors learn to apply John’s Magic Rectangle Technique in a scene that they will perform with several off-camera partners while learning to direct that performance into the emotional “money” zone that exists around the camera. John’s camera games/exercises teach students the meaning of “eye-lines” and to which off-camera character they must focus their primary dramatic emphasis. This class will change how you audition as well as help you deliver captivating performances for TV and film. *NEW CLASS!* MASTERING THE CLOSE UP YOUTH/TEEN| Ages 8-16 | 2:30-4:30 PM John’s Top 5 Techniques for Creating Memorable Performances The Camera is a lie-detector. It can see all that you wish to share and all you’re trying to hide. If you’re lying, it will know it. Performing on camera in the close-up is the most intimate aspect of our craft and the number one thing that makes movie stars. The camera peers inside our thoughts, hopes, ambitions and fears to find our absolute truth. Those actors who can clear away their personal clutter and fill their characters with objectives and purpose, have an opportunity to captivate the audience. In this class, students will practice John’s TOP FIVE CLOSE UP TECHNIQUES for creating unforgettable screen performances. All performances will be recorded on camera and available for review in the days following our class.
